I see this MORON of a Referee was not taken off this tournaey with his teribble PK call--he did the Spain/Greece match today. Hopefully that is it for him.
For the guys who follow this religiously--can you name some terrible referees?? What was the worst call ever in your opinion??

Graham Poll gave Croatia’s Joe Šimunić 3 yellow cards before issuing him a red card in a 2006 World Cup match against Australia. That was the end of Poll's international referee career.

And, FWIW, Webb is an excellent referee.

I am only going off one game--so I guess Moron was tough--did you agree with his call in Euro??

The guy that referreed the Italy/South Korea game in WC02 was one of the worst officiated games I can recall. He was later suspended by FIFA or his federation for sucking so badly. Took away (wrongly) a golden goal for Italy then gave Totti a yellow (his second, so a red) for diving in the box when he was fouled.

Totti's red is at 1:30 with the disallowed golden goal just after it. Spain were also robbed when they played South Korea, highlights are after the Italy highlights, had a goal wrongly disallowed in like the 88th minute that would have won the game for them.

Peter Vink (reffing in Euro now) blew an obvious penalty for Arsenal in the first of their two Champions League ties with Liverpool this year.

I don't know how much of it is incompetency and how much is just the difficulty in officiating soccer, but officiating is generally horrendous in soccer. It is physiologically impossible to watch a ball being kicked and a defensive line at the same time (an offside) yet they continuously refuse to add replay to the game.

Webb is actually a very good official.

Yes, I agree with the call. Webb warned the players a couple of times before the free kick was taken. Then when it was taken the first time there was still pushing and shoving and instead of calling a penalty straight away he issued another warning to the Polish players and made Austria re-take the free kick. On the 2nd free kick a Polish player clearly grabbed a handful of an Austrian players jersey and pulled him to the ground in the box. Webb had no other choice but to award a penalty.

Horrendous stuff. I remember the 2002 incidents as my Spanish mate reminds me everytime there is a new international tournament . Horrible officiating.

It's the reason why I find football can be really hard to bet on. The officiating is such an important variable and can completely change a match more than most sports. There's so much money pouring through the game but the authorities are so backward. They have to introduce some technology for offside decisions, and balls that cross the line at least! I'm really sick of seeing all these stupid injustices, and it's even worse in the knockout stages of a tournament.

Check out the ref celebrating this goal.

Hahaha, don't get too carried away by that.

Just a few moments before the goal a PSV player made a terrible tackle. The ref let the play go on and Ajax ended up scoring. He said he cheered because he made the right decision in not calling for a foul.

MrCleo, am I losing my mind or is that B-Real from Cypress Hill in your avatar?

Hahaha, I'm sure there's a market for B-Real lookalikes man, tell him that there's some definite cash to be made. You could pimp him out and use the money to fund the soccer gambling addiction...
